Bridgemedica, LLC (www.bridgemedica.com), a company providing high value innovative concept-to-market services in design, development engineering, sourcing, assembly and distribution of innovative new medical devices, announced recently that it has created the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) and has hired Tom Motta a seasoned medical device veteran to fill that role.
The creation of this position strengthens Bridgemedica's commitment and focus on providing products and services of the highest quality to our clients while ensuring regulatory and quality compliance to the appropriate standards. In this role Mr. Motta will work closely with both the client and Bridgemedica engineering, manufacturing and operations resources developing a robust and compliant process supporting quality assurance, process qualifications, manufacturing, supply chain management and distribution services of client's medical device. Mr. Motta's ongoing involvement throughout the commercialization process will provide real time assessment and early identification of potential problem areas allowing for course corrections minimizing project delay and cost. Prior to joining Bridgemedica, Motta has accumulated over 25 years in the medical device industry with the last five (5) years spent as Chief Operating Officer at Optos, global retinal scanning equipment developer and manufacturer based out of Scotland. Mr. Motta was responsible for the integration of newly acquired technologies across multiple locations, the successful implementation of "Lean", establishing a worldwide servicing infrastructure and integral in the company doubling revenue. Previous experience also included senior operations positions with ACMI/Gyrus/Olympus, Teleflex Medical, Genzyme and Deknatel. Mr. Motta received an Associate in Mechanical Engineering Technology, BA in Engineering from New England Institute of Technology and a Masters in Total Quality Management from Anna Maria College. Mr. Motta was also a Massachusetts Quality Examiner for the Mass State Quality Award; a Baldridge based assessment process and an Adjunct Professor for Cost of Quality at the Falmouth Institute. Tom is also a frequent speaker of the subject of "the cost of poor quality".
